The Supreme Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting of Turkey (RTÜK) fined one of the popular Turkish radio stations – Show Radyo for so called “insulting remarks” about Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Anadolu Agency reports.

According to the decision of RTÜK, a ban on five issues of the Matrax program was imposed, and a maximum penalty of 5 per cent of the commercial profit of the media outlet was imposed.

The reason for the decision was the broadcast of Matrax with anchor Zeki Kayakhan Joshkun.

RTÜK warned the Show Radyo management that in the event of a repeat of such actions, within the next year it may be decided to suspend broadcasting of the radio station. If Show Radyo decides to repeat this on the air again, then the license of the radio station will be canceled.

The decision of RTÜK has become one of the most severe in the history of broadcasting in Turkey.
