Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Jimmy Butler has reportedly requested a trade ahead of the 2018-19 NBA season.

On Wednesday, Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported Butler has provided the T-Wolves with a list of the “one to three teams” with whom he’d be willing to sign a contract extension.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Butler’s three preferred trade destinations are the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks.

Minnesota acquired the 29-year-old Marquette product in June 2017 in a blockbuster deal with the Chicago Bulls. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 47.4 percent from the field across 59 appearances last year.

Although Butler enjoyed on-court success, ranking 18th in the NBA in player efficiency rating, there have been rumblings about his unhappiness within the squad.

In July, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported Butler was “frustrated with the nonchalant attitudes of younger teammates—specifically Karl-Anthony Towns—[and] does not intend to sign an extension with the Timberwolves.”

Per Cowley, the four-time All-Star selection is also keen on linking up with Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving next offseason—both players can decline player options in their contract to become free agents in 2019—to create a potential superteam in the Eastern Conference.

Krawczynski noted Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau was “initially resistant” to the idea of a trade, but Butler remains hopeful of moving to a new team as the new season approaches.

Krawczynski also reported the request has “very little” to do with the reported issues with Towns and Andrew Wiggins and is more related to contract concerns.

Butler is scheduled to receive a $18.7 million base salary for the 2018-19 season, which ranks 12th among shooting guards, seven spots behind Wiggins, per Spotrac.

It’s unclear whether there’s enough time to complete a major trade before the campaign gets underway in less than a month. The Wolves are set to open the preseason against the Golden State Warriors on Sept. 29, and their regular season begins Oct. 17 when they take on the San Antonio Spurs.

Silicon Valley may have done ‘bare minimum’ to help Russia investigation, Senate Intel Committee told – CNN

(CNN)The Senate Intelligence Committee has been advised that social media companies might have provided the “bare minimum” amount of data to aid the panel’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, according to a person familiar with a report commissioned by the committee.

The committee hired an online intelligence firm to review data on Russian social media accounts that posed as American accounts. The data, much of which has not yet been made public, was provided to lawmakers by Facebook, Twitter and Google, which owns YouTube.
New Knowledge, the firm hired by the committee, tracks online disinformation. In its report to lawmakers, the firm said that the social media companies could have provided more valuable data to the committee and also could have presented it in a more accessible format.
The firm advised lawmakers that there are likely more Russian accounts that the social media companies failed to identify, according to person familiar with the report.
A spokesperson for Google said the company did not have a comment on the report but pointed to some of the steps the company has taken to combat disinformation since 2016.
A Twitter spokesperson told CNN the company has made “significant strides” against the manipulation of its service.
“Our singular focus is to improve the health of the public conversation on our platform, and protecting the integrity of elections is an important aspect of that mission,” the spokesperson said. “We’ve made significant strides since 2016 to counter manipulation of our service, which includes our release of additional data in October related to previously disclosed activities to enable further independent academic research and investigation.”
A spokesperson for Facebook said they didn’t have a comment on the report.
New Knowledge declined to provide a comment to CNN.
The firm analyzed more than 10 million tweets, 116,000 Instagram posts, and 61,500 Facebook posts sent by the Russian government-linked troll group the Internet Research Agency, according to the source familiar with the report. The IRA was indicted in February by special counsel Robert Mueller.
While the tech giants were criticized for their cooperation with the Senate Intelligence committee about 2016 meddling, the Justice Department praised the “exceptional cooperation” from Facebook and Twitter in October when it indicted a woman it alleged was involved in an effort to meddle in the 2018 midterm elections.

Separate report

New Knowledge’s report is due to be made public by the committee this week along with a separate report, also commissioned by the committee, that found the IRA was active on every social media platform and sought to help Trump win. The Washington Post reported the details of the separate report, by Oxford University’s Computational Propaganda Project and Graphika, a network analysis firm, on Sunday.
The separate report shows that Russians working at IRA divided Americans into key interest groups in order to target messaging, the Post reported.
The Russians focused on turning out conservatives to vote with messaging about gun rights and immigration, according to the Post, and spread misinformation to left-leaning African-American voters about how to vote to and tried to undermine their faith in elections. Many other groups, including Latinos, Muslims, Christians, gay men and women, liberals, Southerners and veterans, were also targeted by thousands of social media accounts controlled by Russians, the Post reported.
“What is clear is that all of the messaging clearly sought to benefit the Republican Party — and specifically Donald Trump,” the draft of the report obtained by the Post reads. “Trump is mentioned most in campaigns targeting conservatives and right-wing voters, where the messaging encouraged these groups to support his campaign.”
“The main groups that could challenge Trump were then provided messaging that sought to confuse, distract and ultimately discourage members from voting,” the report continues, according to the Post.
The Senate Intelligence Committee hasn’t announced if it supports the report’s findings, but it plans to publicly release the report along with another separate report later this week, the Post reported.

Offset is speaking out after a grand gesture to win his wife Cardi B back didn’t exactly go as planned.

On Saturday night, the Migos rapper appeared onstage at Cardi’s Rolling Loud Festival show in Los Angeles and surprised her with a massive cake and floral bouquet from Venus ET Fleur which read “Take Me Back Cardi.” The whole look apparently set him back about $15,000.

Offset pleaded with the “Bartier Cardi” rapper and begged her to forgive him for his alleged infidelity. “I just wanna tell you I’m sorry, bro, in person, in front of the world,” he said. “I love you. Whatever I gotta do to show you that, I’m there.”

Despite the chivalrous appeal, Cardi had the flowers removed from the stage before continuing with her show.

On Sunday, Offset took to Twitter and spoke out about his actions. “All of my wrongs have been made public, i figure It’s only right that my apologies are made public too,” he wrote. ” A n—a was just trying …..thank god I ain’t got no balloons sheeesh.”

Hours before Cardi and Offset’s brief reunion onstage, she posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Story. “Pensando en ti Pensando en mi,” it said, which means “thinking of you thinking of me” in Spanish.

This wasn’t Offset’s first big move to get himself back in Cardi’s good graces. On Dec. 9, he tweeted “F–k YALL I MISS CARDI” but that same day, Cardi rapped about divorce during one of her concerts.

On Friday, Offset shared a long video on Instagram where he apologized for his actions. “I was partaking in activity that I shouldn’t have been partaking in, and I apologize,” he said in the video. “You know what I’m saying? For breaking your heart, for breaking our promise, for breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed up husband.”

He added later, “I want to be able to spend the rest of my life with you. I apologize. I am sorry for what I have done to you. I didn’t f–k that girl, but I was entertaining her, you know what I’m saying? I apologize, and I love you, and I hope you forgive me. My birthday wish is just to have you back.”

A source told E! News after their split that Cardi remains “very torn” about getting back together with Offset, who is also the father of their daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus

The Invasion of Privacy artist posted a few videos about the encounter on Instagram later on Saturday night and urged people to stop “bashing” Offset. She said in one video, “Unfortunately, we’re going through things and you know, it’s not private, it became public and I just want things to die down, I just need time so we can see eye to eye. I can’t predict the future.”

Colin Kroll, who co-founded Vine and was the CEO and co-founder of the popular mobile gaming app HQ Trivia was found dead in his Manhattan apartment early Sunday. Police found the 34-year-old’s body when they went to his home to conduct a wellness check following a call from his girlfriend. Kroll’s body was discovered face-down in his bedroom, where there reportedly was drug paraphernalia nearby, according to TMZ. A police source tells TMZ that law enforcement believe the drugs involved were cocaine and heroin.

“He had so much talent and had accomplished so much at such a young age. It truly is a waste. At 34, imagine the things he’d done and the skills he had. It would have been really fun to watch him at 50,” his father, Alan Kroll, told the New York Times. “He worked too many hours and too hard,” he said. “I think New York City got to him a little bit.”

Kroll first made a name of himself by co-founding Vine, the once-popular app that allowed user to make six-second videos. Twitter bought Vine for $30 million in 2012 but closed it down last year. Kroll went to work for Twitter but was later fired for being a bad manager, according to Recode. Investors who considered putting money into HQ were also reportedly concerned by his reputation for exhibiting inappropriate behavior toward women in the workplace.

When HQ Trivia made its debut in August 2017 it was an immediate viral hit and was valued at $100 million a few months later. But the app has been struggling to hold on to its audience lately. Kroll was named CEO of HQ Trivia in September.

“So sad to hear about the passing of my friend and co-founder Colin Kroll,” HQ Trivia and Vine co-founder Rus Yusupov tweeted Sunday. “I will forever remember him for his kind soul and big heart. He made the world and internet a better place. Rest in peace, brother.”
